Rear engine plate is about 90% done. Just have to finish the lower mounting holes, cut a window for the clutch slave and carve out some metal for the starter and it’s done. Also got a dual pump holder from Leroy at BTR and have found that an EK Civic radiator will fit in just nicely beside the fuel cell.

MOTOR IS BACK IN!!!! – sort of Even though I haven’t updated in the last few weeks, I’ve been working out a few technical issues. I’ve started on the rear engine plate and after taking some measurements I made a couple of mdf templates. These were OK, however after drawing it up on some steel today it turns out that a couple of the measurements are a slightly out Got some more work done on the cross member, starting to get there. I’ve done some test fittings and it all looks like it’s going to fit up nicely. Just have to cut out the old mounts for space and do some major cleaning of the area for welding. I’ll put some pint on the member too as it’s done. Nearly finished the cut down exhaust as well, muffler fits up quite snuggly next to the tailshaft loop. It’s a bit skew in the pics as the jack stand is in the way, but you get the general idea. I’ll finish this off today and then might move on to more panel work. Hit read more for some pics. I’ve been busy over the Christmas / New Year period tackling the interior. Whilst not a necessity for our race efforts it helps in the overall look and presentation of the car. I reckon it’s made a huge difference! Click here for a look. Well Jambo has been and gone, and what a weekend it was for us! It all started on Friday night with both Scott and myself flogging to get the car finished in time for Saturday morning. We both ended up getting around two and a half hours sleep, but we did manage to finish off all the little odd jobs.
Saturday didn’t start off real well with what we thought was an injector problem nearly getting the better of us. Turns out it was the fuel filter caked full of rubbish (thanks Phil!). The car ran flawlessly all day after this little adventure. We put down all three qualifying passes and came in 11th. Times for the day were: |
